Eligibility for Assistance Programs 


Residents who meet eligibility criteria for the programs will receive assistance.

    1. To meet the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) requirements, participants must reside in Cook County and be at 150 percent of the poverty level. Special emphasis is given to families with children under the age of five, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities.

    2. To meet Weatherization program requirements, you must be a resident of the City of Chicago and apply at a local intake site. Intake sites are organized by the ZIP codes they serve. At the time of an application is made you must have proof of home ownership, a current electric or gas bill, a hard copy of a social security number for the head of the household who is 16 years old or older and lives at the residence, and proof of income for the previous 12 months is needed.

    3. Share the Warmth: Program of Peoples Gas to assist with heating gas  bills only
       
    4. To meet the ComEd Special Hardship requirements, you must be at 400 percent of the Federal Poverty guidelines. Special Hardship criteria are detailed on the CEDA website at www.cedaorg.net
